Flow rate measuring system
Advantages of introduction
Detection of visual defects and determination of mold maintenance timing
It is possible to measure the flow front (leading edge) velocity of resin flowing inside the mold.
This makes it possible to detect a decrease in resin flow velocity caused by clogged gas vents and determine the appropriate timing for mold maintenance. In addition, when visual defects occur, differences in resin behavior compared to good product molding can be identified, allowing the system to be used for defect monitoring and root cause analysis.
Examples of Flow Velocity Sensor Applications

Features
The flow front (leading edge) velocity of resin flowing inside the cavity, as measured by the flow velocity sensor, can be displayed as a waveform in real time using dedicated measurement software. Measurement can be easily performed with a single flow velocity sensor regardless of the resin flow direction. In addition, a signal can be output when the flow front passes the sensor, allowing it to be used for controlling the injection molding machine.
Measurement principle
Using the optical fiber built into the flow velocity sensor, visible light is emitted into the cavity, and the reflected light from the flowing resin is detected. The detected reflected light is converted into an electrical signal by the relay amplifier, and is calculated as the flow front (leading edge) velocity of the resin by dedicated measurement software.
